We are locking people up for, at most, doing harm to themselves. There would be no illegal activity if using Marijuana wasn't illegal to begin with. Since it is no more harmful than alcohol or tobacco, there should be no prohibition on it. Plus, we could end 60-70% of the funding for the Mexican drug cartel by allowing Americans to grow their own weed. That would cut the drug gang problem down to manageable size so it could be effectively fought. We could empty our overcrowded prisons of people whose main action is to hurt themselves, save billions, and make millions more by taxing this activity. I don't know if medical marijuana is the best treatment for various ailments, or if it's a convenient excuse to get high, but doctors should be deciding that, not politicians out to score votes. The current policy has got to end.Scott Bakerhttp://newthinking.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
