Many Americans feel it is important for our President and Vice President to have a solid educational background to be prepared for the duties of those offices. Here are the educational backgrounds of each of the four candidates in 2008:
REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES:
John McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the very bottom of his class)
Sarah Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - General study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - Journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism
vs.
DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES:
Barack Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude. President of Harvard Law Review.
Joe Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
You be the judge.
Education is necessary in our current world. We prize titles and degrees and forget that many in our society without education and degrees are intelligent, wise, and courageous. Kahlil Gibran wrote, "A man with lots of education and little wisdom is like a donkey carrying a library." Give me courage and character over titles and degrees. Test the mettle of the person and not the vanity certificates on the wall.
ReplyDeleteGoing to six colleges in five years to get a degree in journalism is a strong sign that Sarah Palin is not an achiever, but someone who enjoys sliding by without doing the work required to truly succeed.
