FDR's Second Bill of Rights

The Second Bill of Rights was a proposal made by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt during his State of the Union Address on January 11, 1944 to suggest that the nation had come to recognize, and should now implement, a second bill of rights. Roosevelt did not argue for any change to the United States Constitution; he argued that the second bill of rights was to be implemented politically, not by federal judges. Roosevelt's stated justification was that the "political rights" guaranteed by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights had "proved inadequate to assure us equality in the pursuit of happiness." Roosevelt's remedy was to create an "economic bill of rights" which would guarantee:

A job with a living wage

Freedom from unfair competition and monopolies

A home

Medical care

Education

Recreation

Roosevelt stated that having these rights would guarantee American security, and that America's place in the world depended upon how far these and similar rights had been carried into practice. Unfortunately, FDR died in 1945 and the hopes for the Second Bill of Rights being implemented died with him. Over the next decade, the power of the banks, corporations and the military industrial complex grew tremendously and threatened the American way of life. At the end of his Presidential term in 1960, President Dwight David Eisenhower warned the American people of the coming dominance of the military industrial complex.

Kennedy was assassinated, the coup d'etat was accomplished, and the Neocons took power in this country, and untold billions were re-directed to corporate interests at the expense of the American people. Debunking Another Birther Wingnut

Paul Hollrah

Now that the Zsa Zsa Gabor of the Birther movement, Orly Taitz, has been exposed as an incompetent "attorney" who has suborned perjury by encouraging her "witnesses" to make up stories about murder and more to influence a Federal judge, the birther movement is split.

It is our pleasure to debunk another wingnut, Paul Hollrah, a contributing editor for FAMILY SECURITY MATTERS, and a Senior Fellow at the Lincoln Heritage Institute.

Mr. Hollrah has authored an article entitled, ONE SIMPLE QUESTION ABOUT OBAMA, on the despicable website run by Obama hater Jeff Rense at rense.com. Hollrah is convinced that Obama is not a "natural born citizen" and here is his hilarious argument:

The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers. It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one.

Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
A : Yes, by his own admission.

Q: What passport did he travel under?
A: There are only three possibilities:
1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport,
2) He traveled with a British passport, or
3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.

Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981?
A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department's "no travel" list in 1981.

Conclusion:

When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport.

If he were traveling with a British=2 0passport that would provide proof he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims.
And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.

These birthers are truly amazing. The one thing they will never consider is FACTS. One right wing nut made up the lie about Americans being banned from travel to Pakistan in 1981 and the rest have run with it to their hearts' content. NEVER MIND THAT AMERICANS WERE FULLY ABLE TO TRAVEL TO PAKISTAN IN 1981. They take a piece of misinformation that fits their argument and make it their own. Who cares about facts?

What is the Lincoln Heritage Institute? You can figure that out by simply reading one paragraph of their "open letter" to the Democratic Party. Here it is:

"Whereas the Democratic party has used racist demagoguery to deceive African Americans about the history of the Republican Party that:

(a) started as the anti-slavery party in 1854,

(b) fought to free African Americans from slavery,

(c) designed Reconstruction, a ten-year period of unprecedented political power for African Americans,

(d) passed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the U. S. Constitution granting African Americans freedom, citizenship, and the right to vote,

(e) passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875 granting African Americans protection from the Black Codes and prohibiting racial discrimination in public accommodations,

(f) passed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965 granting African Americans protection from the Jim Crow laws,

(g) established Affirmative Action programs to help African Americans proper with Republican President Richard Nixon's 1969 Philadelphia Plan that set the first goals and timetables and his 1972 Equal Employment Opportunity Act that made Affirmative Action Programs the law of our nation, and

(h) never sponsored or launched a program, passed laws, or engaged in practices that resulted in the death of millions of African Americans,"

This is an organization that quite frankly HATES the Democratic Party and will do anything to uproot it. So, you now know the motives behind a new article written by Mr. Hollrah as a representative of this organization in which he says Mr. Obama must resign. His reason? In his own words: "it is only necessary to establish the facts surrounding Obama’s travel to Indonesia and Pakistan in the summer of 1981."

It's obvious that established facts mean nothing when your goal is to destroy someone. Let's take the possibilities Hollah describes. The "Indonesian passport". Obama could not have traveled under an Indonesian passport because he was NEVER adopted by his stepfather and nobody has ever shown a shred of evidence that he was. Obama's stepfather had no authority over Obama as a child at the time because he was not the biological father and there has been no evidence as to prove that Obama was adopted by his indonesian father -- period.

Furthermore in Indonesia during that time children of foreign indonesian marriages, especially mixed marriages had to reside in Indonesia for 5 years or had to be 5 years of age to be able to gain citizenship and to be legally adopted by his indonesian step father. Because he only came to indonesia at 6 years and left at 10 years none of this applied.

In addition Obama would have had to give up his US natural born citizenship to become an Indonesian and then to officially, in the eyes of the law, attend school. He could not give up his citizenship as he was too young. What was written on the school documents were not legal in the eyes of indonesia or US law. Soetoro had no legal right to proclaim Obama anything and probably broke the law to get Obama into school. END OF THAT POSSIBLE SCENARIO.

Next scenario: Obama traveled under a British passport due to his birth in Kenya.

IMPOSSIBLE. His mother was never in Kenya. There is no proof that she was ever there. Even the Kenya government was unable to find any evidence that she was, and to try to say she was given the circumstances at the time is downright ridiculous. Once again, his mother was living in Hawaii in 1961 with her parents. Her "husband" (actually her marriage to Obama Sr. was probably illegal since he was already married with a couple of children) was in Kenya in 1960, but not again until 1965. So in order for us to believe Obama was born in Kenya, we would have to believe that a pregnant 18-year-old white girl from Kansas, left the comfort of her parents' home when she was 8 months pregnant to travel to war-torn Kenya which was still suffering from the ravages of the Mau Mau uprising WITHOUT HER HUSBAND, just to give birth and then travel back to Hawaii to quickly report his birth to the Honolulu Advertiser to meet the definition of Natural Born Citizen so that some day he could be eligible to run for President. Even the most dedicated stoner wouldn't believe this one. Obama-haters on the other hand orgasmically swoon at the "possibility".

HOLLAH'S CONCLUSION IN HIS OWN WORDS:

If that proves to be the case he should minimize the damage to the country and follow the Nixon example; he should simply resign from office so that we can begin to clean up the mess he leaves behind."

HOLLAH MISREPRESENTS THE FACTS AND IS PROVEN WRONG!

Hollah continues: "So it is well established that Obama did travel to Indonesia and Pakistan in 1981. What is not established, and what is critically important, is what passport he used during that trip. There are only three possibilities: Obama could have traveled under a U.S. passport… a passport first issued when he and his mother moved from Hawaii to Indonesia in 1967; he could have traveled under an Indonesian passport, issued following his adoption by his Indonesian stepfather; and it is conceivable that, if he was, in fact, born in Kenya in 1961, he could still have been a British subject, traveling with a British passport. So which is it?" WE HAVE DISPROVEN THE INDONESIAN OR BRITISH (KENYAN) PASSPORT THEORY. LET'S MOVE ON:

"Unfortunately for Obama, in the present circumstance, Pakistan was under martial law in 1981 and certain undesirables… Christians, Jews, and Americans… were prohibited from entering the country. Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department’s “no travel” list..."

This is where Hollah's whole theory goes where it belongs . . . right down the toilet. This clown apparently read on some right-wing blog about this so-called fact that Americans were banned from travel to Pakistan in 1981. AMERICANS WERE NOT BANNED FROM TRAVEL TO PAKISTAN IN 1981. Instead of joining the ranks of the egotistical jerks who repeatedly bring this false claim against Obama he could have easily researched this subject as THE CANDID BLOGGER has done. A Canadian Message to America About Healthcare

Canadian Doctors for Medicare hosted a celebration of Medicare in Canada. The speakers included Roy Romanow, former Saskatchewan Premiere and Commissioner on Health Care in Canada. What was wrong with the birth certificate?

The most obvious problems:

- It records Barack Obama Sr's age as "26." Obama Sr was born in 1936; his son was born in 1961.

- Its publication date is February 17, 1964, but it purports be a document of the "Republic of Kenya." Kenya did not become a Republic until December 12, 1964, a year after it won independence from Great Britain.

- It's signed by "registrar E.F. Lavender." Earth Friendly Lavender is a kind of detergent, and government officials who use vanity initials on official documents are, to put it mildly, rare.

- The kicker? The image is part of the extremely ill-informed conspiracy theory that Obama was born in Mombasa--conveniently, one of the more Muslim parts of the country.

This has always been a red flag for conspiracy theorists, so it deserves some explanation. Barack Obama Sr. was born and educated in Nyanza Province, in southwestern Kenya, on Lake Victoria. This is the area where Obama's family lived and continues to live; Sarah Obama, the step-grandmother of the president, lives in Nyang'oma Kogelo, a small town in the province. But Mombasa is a city on the Indian Ocean, a thousand miles to the east. It didn't even have an international airport until 1979. And the city wasn't even part of Kenya when the future president was born. Mombasa was a part of Zanzibar until December 12, 1963, when it became part of the newly independent Kenya.

The new forgery? Why, it claims that the president was born in Coast General Hospital in Mombasa.

- As some FreeRepublic posters have pointed out, the document contains a number that's either a humorous coincidence or a wink by the forger. It's number 47,044. Barack Obama, 47 years old, is the 44th president of the United States.

It's not quite as obvious as the forgery that Philip Berg fell for when he submitted a birth certificate in his first lawsuit that was signed by Dudley Do-Right, but it's still amusing.

Oregon Legalizes Industrial Hemp

Sanity is gradually returning to the United States as the State of Oregon became the sixth state to legalize industrial hemp.

Oregon’s House of Representatives voted Monday night to legalize the cultivation of hemp, becoming the sixth state to do so just this year.

Oregon’s Senate voted 27 to 2 in favor of the new law last week. Monday’s 46 to 11 House vote means that the measure will become law, barring an unlikely veto by Governor Ted Kulongoski.

The move is part of a rapidly growing nationwide trend to liberalize laws relating to marijuana. Hemp is a botanical cousin of marijuana, traditionally used to make clothing, rope and other durable fiber goods.

“Hemp is a versatile, environmentally-friendly crop that has not been grown in the U.S. for over fifty years because of a misguided and politicized interpretation of the nation’s drug laws by the Drug Enforcement Administration,” Vote Hemp President Eric Steenstra said in a statement.

“While a new bill in Congress, HR 1866, is a welcome step, the hemp industry is hopeful that President Obama’s administration will recognize hemp’s myriad benefits to farmers, businesses and the environment.”

According to Vote Hemp, this year Maine, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota and Vermont and ”all passed resolutions or memorials urging Congress to allow states to regulate hemp farming.”

California is at the forefront of the marijuana debate, with a movement growing to decriminalize marijuana for personal use in the state by 2010.

But in Oregon’s debate, politicians were careful to distinguish between hemp and weed, and to highlight the fact that the new law would allow farmers to cultivate hemp, not grow marijuana.

Some members of Oregon’s legislature displayed t-shirts reading “Senate Bill 676 is about rope, not dope.”

Farming Hemp in the United States

In 1938, Popular Mechanics Magazine declared that Hemp was the next billion dollar industry and a boon for farmers across America. However, the corporate influence of men like Hearst and DuPont stepped in. The Marijuana Tax Act is passed and forbids hemp farming in the US. Dupont files a patent for nylon.

In 1991, Willie Nelson issued a plea to America to come to its senses and legalize Industrial Hemp, a product that was mandatory for the farmers of the Colonies, and for which the United States Government made a movie entitled, "Hemp for Victory". Why is it illegal? To protect the financial corporate interests of the textile, petrochemical, and lumber (paper) industries. How long will America stand for corporate America sticking it to the little guy?

Hemp, Natures Perfect Plant

Industrial hemp is an incredible resource. Hemp is harvested for its fibers for hemp clothing and seeds for hemp oil. With a relatively short growth cycle of 100-120 days, it is an efficient and economical crop for farmers to grow, however, industrial hemp cannot be commercially grown in the United States because it is erroneously confounded with marijuana. In fact, industrial hemp and marijuana are different breeds of Cannabis sativa. Smoking large amounts of hemp flowers can produce a headache but not a high!

This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9/11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive. The President Makes a Big Mistake

Mr. President, Say It Isn't So

This is an open letter to you, Mr. President, because I feel I know you. Since your speech at the Convention in 2004, I knew you would become President. Your approach to the world, your patience, your calm, and your ability to see the whole forest, not just the trees in front of you, make you the equal of few humans, among them Tiger Woods. Focus and direction are abilities that few people master.

Now, enough with the platitudes, I would like to talk with you in layman's terms about a statement you made today that a man of your reasoning abilities must realize is baloney (balogna for the Italians who read this). Here it is:



That is your politically correct answer. Remember this?



I realize that this topic is very delicate for you POLITICALLY, but it's one that we must discuss without bias or prejudice. Let's put politics aside and discuss what is truly in the best interest of the American people. What would you say, Mr. President, if I told you that we have a PROVEN CURE FOR CANCER? Would you listen to me for the American people?

I believe in your programs and agree that we must address healthcare, education, jobs and energy all at once. I also believe it will generate the short term growth and stability you are seeking. However, we MUST HAVE additional revenue sources that will provide LONG-TERM stability and growth. We have those sources AVAILABLE NOW.

Let's agree to ground rules. I will present many arguments in favor of the legalization of marijuana and welcome your response to each.

1. Religion

First, it is both moral and ethical for you to legalize this God-given plant. As a Christian, I am sure you adhere to the teachings of the Bible. I am not a Bible scholar and the information presented to you is a result of research and assistance for more Godly friends. What does the Bible tell us about marijuana (Cannabis)?


At Exodus 30:22-25, God gives the recipe to Moses for holy anointing oil. One of the key ingredients of this oil is cannabis hemp. The Hebrew word “Keneh-bosem” is mistranslated as sweet calamus, aromatic cane or sweet cane. The story goes that King James intentionally mistranslated Keneh-bosem into Calamus after his wife was caught in an affair. Canaan was named for Cannabis. Evidently, the bible translators are trying to hide the fact that this is marijuana. Cannabis Hemp is one of the many blessings that God gave to man as stated at Genesis 1:11 and Genesis 1:29, and we are commanded to appreciate and to use all of God's creations as long as it is received with thanks, as stated at 1 Timothy 4:4.

In 1860 the Ohio State Medical Society concurred with Biblical scholars that 'the gall and vinegar or myrrhed wine offered to our saviour immediately before his crucifixion was a preparation of Indian hemp”.


For purposes of this communication, I will refer to Marijuana or Cannabis as Hemp. The difference between marijuana and hemp is the absence of THC in the hemp plant. Here is a timeline of the usage of hemp in the United States:

1619 - Virginia colony makes hemp cultivation mandatory, followed by most other colonies. Europe pays hemp bounties.

1631 - Hemp used as money throughout American colonies.

1776 - American 'Declaration of Independence' drafted on hemp paper.

1791 - President Washington sets duties on hemp to encourage domestic industry; Jefferson calls hemp "a necessity", and urges farmers to grow hemp instead of tobacco.

1801 - Certain premiums offered to encourage the cultivation of hemp in Upper and Lower Canada.

1800's Australia survives two prolonged famines by eating virtually nothing but hemp seed for protein and hemp leaves for roughage.

Then it happened . . .

The corporations stepped in:

1850's – The Petrochemical age begins. Toxic sulfite and chlorine processes make paper from trees, steamships replace sails, tropical fibers introduced.

1930's - New machines invented to break hemp, process the fiber, and convert pulp or hurds into paper, plastics, etc. - DuPont was getting ready to file patents for nylon. He got his friend William Hearst, owner of a network of National newspapers to spread Racist fears of Mexicans, Asians, and African Americans engaging in illicit activities with innocent young white girls that lead to an outcry for cannabis to be outlawed. Does that give you any ideas as to the Auto Industry, or the potential of Industrial Hemp? Henry Ford ran 40,000 vehicles on hemp fuel from only 10,000 acres. The emissions are what you exhale, and next year’s crop is reconverting it back to oxygen. That’s a natural cycle fuel! Best of all... the money stays home.

In 1943, faced with a desperate shortage of war materials, the United States government produced a movie entitled “Hemp for Victory”, and urged farmers in America to grow hemp in the interest of national security. The Farmers of America answered the call. Here is that movie:



Mr. President, the Farmers of America answered the call. In 1938, Popular Mechanics Magazine declared that Hemp was the “NEXT BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY” and a boon for farmers across America. However, the corporate influence of men like Hearst and DuPont stepped in and, appealing to the most racist and base instincts of Americans, banned both marijuana and hemp. This was not in the best interest of Americans. It was corporate greed. Now, here is a plea to you from Willie Nelson, representing the Farmers of America.




In 1955, hemp farming was again banned. Since that time, the world has begun to come to its senses.

1992 - Australia licences hemp farming.

1993 - England eases restriction on hemp farming. News media declare hemp clothes and cannabis leaf logo hottest new fashion.

1994 - Under the CNCA, one license was granted to a Canadian company, Hempline Inc., to grow hemp experimentally in Canada under the strict supervision of the authorities.

1996 - The Canadian federal government passed Bill C8 stating that mature hemp stalks are exempt from the list of controlled substances.

1998 - The Canadian government legalizes the commercial growth of industrial hemp.

The Time for Acceptance is NOW

Hemp is one of the most diverse plants on the planet, and could literally supply most of humankind's needs for fuel, food, clothing, building products, and medicine. Despite its usefulness, hemp is illegal to grow in the United States.

Hemp as Food

The Nutritional Composition of a Hemp Seed is Exceptional. Whole hemp seeds contain approximately 25% protein, 31% fat (in the form of a nutritious oil), and 34% carbohydrates, in addition to an interesting array of vitamins and minerals.

1972 - U.S.D.A. finds that hemp seed is lower in saturated fats than any other vegetable oil (including soybean and canola). Other studies note that until this century hemp-cake (the by-product of pressing the seed for oil ) was one of the world's principle animal feeds. It is also found that hemp seed, like soybeans, can produce a tofu-like curd and be spiced to taste like chicken, steak or pork; can be sprouted for salads, ground into meal, and also made into margarine.

Hemp seed is recommended as a nutritionally balanced food for domestic pets and farm animals.

A direct result of marijuana prohibition has been malnutrition and hunger in many parts of the world. Because hemp is the ONLY common seed with three essential fatty acids is unique and essential. In response to global climate change, the climate mitigation potential of cannabis agriculture should be considered.

Hemp as Fuel

The thought of hemp production as a cheap alternative to oil and gas is appealing because it can be converted to "biomass" that is, in turn, converted to energy. "Biomass can be converted to methane, methanol or gasoline at a fraction of the current cost of oil, coal or nuclear energy," Jack Herer, a longtime hemp activist and author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes," said. In his book, he says, "Hemp stems are 80 percent hurds" (pulp byproduct after the hemp fiber is removed from the plant). Hemps hurds are 77 percent cellulose - a primary chemical feed stock (industrial raw material) used in the production of chemicals, plastics and fibers ... an acre of full-grown hemp plants can provide from 50 to 100 times the cellulose found in cornstalks, kenaf or sugar cane."

According to Herer's research, "Farming only 6 percent of the continental U.S. acreage with biomass [from hemp] crops would provide all of Americans' gas and oil energy needs, ending dependence upon fossil fuels." Think about that! If we would just farm only 6% of our available acreage, we would end our dependency upon foreign countries!

He added, "Each acre of hemp would yield 1,000 gallons of methanol. Fuels from hemp, along with the recycling of paper, etc., would be enough to run America virtually without oil." Herer explained the versatility of hemp by saying, "It can be grown in virtually any climate or soil condition on Earth, even marginal ones."

Hemp as Medicine

We are familiar, Mr. President, with the benefits of medical marijuana as published. However, its benefits are far greater than has been allowed to be known.

1975 - Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia discover that cannabis is incredibly successful for reducing the size of many types of tumors, both benign and cancerous.

In 2000 Dr. Manuel Guzman of Complutense University in Madrid Spain re-discovered that THC destroys tumors with no negative side effects whatsoever. His team also irrigated healthy rats brains with high doses of THC for seven days and again found no negative results. Cannabinoids kill cancer cells by cutting off their blood supply but not to the healthy cells. These results have since been duplicated around the globe with many other cancers as well.

In 2005 Dr. Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan found that THC actually promotes the growth of brain cells bringing new hope for head trauma and stroke patients. The same year the Scripps Institute reported that THC was a superior inhibitor of the plaque that causes Alzheimers. Unfortunately we hear little of any of these findings.

In 2008 researchers in Italy and the U.K. found that cannabinoids have germ killing activity against MRSA and kill bacteria in a different way than current antibiotics, meaning they might bypass bacterial resistance. MRSA's are becoming more and more prevalent and new treatments are desperately needed.

Cannabis has also been found extremely helpful with autism, epilepsy, arthritis, migraine, asthma, emphysema, MS, ALS, OCD, ADHD, chronic pain, nausea, cystic fibrosis, lupus, tuberculosis, muscular dystrophy, depression, diabetes, glaucoma, alcoholism, herpes, anxiety, Parkinsons, Huntingtons, Tourettes, Crohn's disease, and more. It is the safest medicine known to man. All mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles have cannabinoid receptors throughout their body that work independently of those that control the heart and breathing which is why cannabis cannot kill you. The hemp seed is the single most nutritionally complete food source on Earth, reintroduced to our diets it will alleviate many of the above mentioned diseases and help end world hunger.

So, if you take this information and add it to all the all the nutritional, industrial and cosmetic uses, then add in that it was God himself that in the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament instructed Moses to use 250 shekels of cannabis(kaneh bosm) in the Holy Oil used to anoint all Priests, Kings, and Prophets, for all generations to come, including that of Jesus and even today as the title Christ/Messiah means literally covered in oil, anointed, I think we have the botanical Messiah, the Mystical Tree of Life, not a worthless plant!!!

Now, Mr. President, please let me introduce you to Rick Simpson, author of “Run From the Cure”. Rick, and an entire town in Nova Scotia, have PROVEN that a mixture of Hemp Oil with THC cures cancer. This is not rumor or conjecture, it is FACT. I invite you to invite your wife to watch this video with you. Its importance cannot be underestimated.

Obama Video Reaches Out to the People of Iran

A New Year, A New Beginning

President Obama released a special video message for all those celebrating Nowruz. Translated "New Day," Nowruz marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the New Year for millions in Iran and other communities around the world. This year, the President wanted to send a special message to the people and government of Iran on Nowruz, acknowledging the strain in our relations over the last few decades. "But at this holiday we are reminded of the common humanity that binds us together," he says.

After committing his administration to a future of honest and respectful diplomacy, he continues on to address Iran's leaders directly: "You, too, have a choice. The United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations. You have that right -- but it comes with real responsibilities, and that place cannot be reached through terror or arms, but rather through peaceful actions that demonstrate the true greatness of the Iranian people and civilization. And the measure of that greatness is not the capacity to destroy, it is your demonstrated ability to build and create."

Trump in Bankruptcy Again!

"You're Fired!"

Famed entrepreneur and TV star of "The Apprentice", Donald Trump, is again in financial trouble. Trump Entertainment Resorts made the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Camden, N.J., four days after the real estate mogul whose name remains on the company and its three seaside gambling resorts resigned as chairman of the board.

Trump was frustrated that bond holders and their allies on the board rebuffed his offer to buy the company and take it private.

Such a filing would mark the third appearance in bankruptcy court for Trump Entertainment, which most recently emerged from bankruptcy proceedings in 2005.

Barack Obama's Weekly Address: 1/3/09

In this week's address, President-elect Barack Obama discusses solutions for our struggling economy in the new year.

"As the holiday season comes to end, we are thankful for family and friends and all the blessings that make life worth living. But as we mark the beginning of a new year, we also know that America faces great and growing challenges—challenges that threaten our nation’s economy and our dreams for the future. Nearly two million Americans have lost their jobs this past year—and millions more are working harder in jobs that pay less and come with fewer benefits. For too many families, this new year brings new unease and uncertainty as bills pile up, debts continue to mount and parents worry that their children won’t have the same opportunities they had.

However we got here, the problems we face today are not Democratic problems or Republican problems. The dreams of putting a child through college, or staying in your home, or retiring with dignity and security know no boundaries of party or ideology.

These are America’s problems, and we must come together as Americans to meet them with the urgency this moment demands. Economists from across the political spectrum agree that if we don’t act swiftly and boldly, we could see a much deeper economic downturn that could lead to double digit unemployment and the American Dream slipping further and further out of reach.

That’s why we need an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan that not only creates jobs in the short-term but spurs economic growth and competitiveness in the long-term. And this plan must be designed in a new way—we can’t just fall into the old Washington habit of throwing money at the problem. We must make strategic investments that will serve as a down payment on our long-term economic future. We must demand vigorous oversight and strict accountability for achieving results. And we must restore fiscal responsibility and make the tough choices so that as the economy recovers, the deficit starts to come down. That is how we will achieve the number one goal of my plan—which is to create three million new jobs, more than eighty percent of them in the private sector.

To put people back to work today and reduce our dependence on foreign oil tomorrow, we will double renewable energy production and renovate public buildings to make them more energy efficient. To build a 21st century economy, we must engage contractors across the nation to create jobs rebuilding our crumbling roads, bridges, and schools. To save not only jobs, but money and lives, we will update and computerize our health care system to cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes, and help reduce health care costs by billions of dollars each year. To make America, and our children, a success in this new global economy, we will build 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries. And to put more money into the pockets of hardworking families, we will provide direct tax relief to 95 percent of American workers.

I look forward to meeting next week in Washington with leaders from both parties to discuss this plan. I am optimistic that if we come together to seek solutions that advance not the interests of any party, or the agenda of any one group, but the aspirations of all Americans, then we will meet the challenges of our time just as previous generations have met the challenges of theirs.

There is no reason we can’t do this. We are a people of boundless industry and ingenuity. We are innovators and entrepreneurs and have the most dedicated and productive workers in the world. And we have always triumphed in moments of trial by drawing on that great American spirit—that perseverance, determination and unyielding commitment to opportunity on which our nation was founded. Right-Wing Attacks on Obama Omit the Truth

Corsi, Devvy Exposed Ignoring the Truth to Smear Obama

Since the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency, the extremists on the far right of the political spectrum have been crawling out of the woodwork like termites. Berg, Donofrio, Martin, Devvy, all claiming to have special information that proves that Obama was either born in Hawaii, but ineligible for the Presidency because he is not a "natural born citizen", or ineligible for the Presidency because he was born in Kenya. The United States Supreme Court has already rejected numerous claims by the extremists and will complete its job in the coming few weeks. In the meantime, the madness continues. I just stumbled across another article inferring that Obama did something sinister and illegal with his house financing. Just last week I exposed Jerome Corsi's deception: CORSI ATTACK ON OBAMA IS BOGUS. Now Devvy Kidd has picked up the same theme and carried it on despite the facts. It's time to expose all of these phonies.

The website, rense.com, and its founder Jeff Rense, has posted the most critical, untrue and disgusting attacks on Obama for many months. He will post ANYTHING critical of Obama, and spend NO TIME investigating the veracity of any of the posts he publishes. Here is an example of posting information without any regard for the truth. It was written by Devvy Kidd, one of the most extreme right-wing writers and the wife of a retired US Army colonel and appears on rense.com. She has little regard for truth. She writes:

shows Obama deducted $22,161 for property taxes. Can we assume the taxes were on this property? Did Obama pay them? Or did Rezko's attorney William Miceli? Did Micelei also take a tax deduction? Obama also deducted $57,838 in mortgage interest. If Obama and Miceli both took tax deductions for property taxes and/or mortgage interest payments one or more of the men could be criminally liable.

"An attorney for convicted fundraiser Tony Rezko [William Miceli] is listed as the owner and taxpayer for Barack Obama's Chicago mansion, according to records obtained by WND."

Ms. Kidd is referring to an article in the World Nut Daily in which they claimed there was some kind of hanky-panky involved in Obama's Chicago home because the attorney for the lawfirm that handled the real estate transaction has the title in his name, not Obama's. The right wing has gone nuts claiming there is something underhanded going on. They simply don't understand the workings of a land trust and have turned their own ignorance and lack of knowledge into what they would like to be a Federal case.

If any of these people were interested in the truth, they could have simply researched land trusts and how they work or, at the very least, contacted an attorney familiar with the workings of a land trust, or they could have contacted Chicago Title Company, which has pioneered the Land Trust in Illinois, or they could have called me. THEY DIDN'T.

THE FACTS

As a Certified Land Trust Specialist, I am very knowledgeable when it comes to this method of holding title. The land trust concept, developed by Chicago Title Company in the 1920's, is now fully accepted in the US as the preferred arrangement by which one person can hold property for the benefit and use of another. It is a method that provides anonymity for the homeowner as well as asset protection, in that the property is shielded from liens and encumbrances.

A Land Trust has been in use throughout the United States for more than 100 years. It has the effect of converting ownership of real property to ownership of personal property, even though such ownership is characterized for income tax purpose as ownership in real estate. The primary purpose of the trust is to provide its beneficiaries a practical, economical (and anonymous) alternative form of real estate ownership and use.

Because both legal and equitable title is held in the name of the Trustee, all notices related to the property including property tax notices are sent to the Trustee. This is normal in all land trust transactions and IS NOT THE BLOCKBUSTER BREAKING NEWS that Corsi, Devvy, etc. would like us all to believe. Responsibility for payment of the mortgage as well as property taxes, etc., rests with the Beneficiary (the Obamas). This is standard procedure in any land trust transaction and is approved by the Internal Revenue Service.

In fact, Disneyland was purchased using a land trust, which is used by the wealthy and many public figures for privacy purposes. It is also used for asset protection and to avoid probate. I use a land trust for my own home. My property tax bill is sent to my Trustee as the title holder. Responsibility for payment of taxes and the mortgage is mine and the writeoffs are also mine. It's not brain surgery -- something from which these right-wing "writers" could certainly benefit.

Had Ms. Devvy or Mr. Corsi, or Mr. Rense cared about the truth, or been credible journalists, this smear would never have been published. They are obsessed with smearing and destroying Barack Obama at all costs -- the truth be damned. It has been a pleasure to expose their deceit.

Christmas trees didn't come to the English speaking world until the 19th century. The tradition started in Germany and eastern Europe in the 16th century. There's another "green tree" we might think about today. One that could feed and clothe billions of the world's poor and increase the standard of living for everyone. One problem: It's been made ILLEGAL. Why is the massively valuable and versatile plant called HEMP illegal in the United States? Here are just four reasons.

Making hemp illegal:

1. Provides make-work for a vast army of "law enforcers" who then are available to be used for other social control work.

2. Protects the market share of numerous well organized lobbies: alcohol makers, plastics and chemical manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and cotton growers (still a powerful economic force in America 200 + years after the Civil War.)

3. Gives fascist minded politicians yet another way to control the population.

4. Increases the prison population making millions for private contractors who deal in prison-related products and services.

What are the differences between hemp and marijuana?

There are many. The most important is that Hemp contains no psychoactive compound, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that Marijuana does. This is why hemp is semi-legal and marijuana is not. The plants are considered ‘distant’ cousins but are distinct separate and different plants.
